Dive-by 'Chuting

This game is part of a fundraising event. On Friday June 17th 2005 I took part in a skydive for charity, the money from this game went towards that. You can see what happened that day. Half of the money went towards the cost of my jump, the rest goes to charity. The charity involved is Link Ukraine - in summer 2005 a group of students from my University (Warwick!) are going out to work with them. For more info about Link Ukraine, see here.

Please sponsor me! Even though the event is finished, money raised will still periodically be sent to the charity.

The object of the game is to drop skydivers from the plane and land them on the target, avoiding the clouds and helicopters on the way. You do this by creating gusts of wind to blow the skydivers around. There are several game modes:

Arcade - everything appears at random! Landing skydivers on the target will increase the time on the clock, game over is when the time runs out.

Puzzle - work your way through 40 levels. Click on the plane to drop the skydivers, the number of skydivers in the plane and the number that need to land for the level to be complete are displayed on the screen.

Load - play a level created using the editor. You can load .sky levels made by other people by putting them in the game directory.

Controls:

Mouse left click and drag - place gust of wind

Mouse right click - remove your gust

Level editor

Included in the game is a level editor to create your own levels. They are saved as .sky files and can be opened with other copies of the game.

Currently, the only methods of sponsoring me are

  • Physically giving me money
  • Mailing money to me (let me know if you're at Warwick Uni to make things easier)
  • Using PayPal:
Please ensure you give me your email address, the link to download the game will be sent to the address you provide. Currently it's a manual process, your patience would be appreciated.

This game costs £5 - the proceeds from this game which aren't covering the cost of the skydive will go to charity.

You can download a limited demo version of this game here.

Deleted the puzzle game files? If puzzle mode isn't working, try downloading the levels and unzipping them into the game directory.

This game was created by me, the music was done by Duncan Stead. Thanks to Ricky Willis and Dan Lawrence for extra art and level design. Thanks to my lovely Julia for the witty name.

Please send me your comments and suggestions!
