![]() | I'm currently involved in the Warwick Video Game Design Society at University. We're supported by Blitz Games, who have done some presentations and talks for us. For more info take a look at the VGDS website.
My role within the society is Project Leader on the GBA Project. After undergoing several major redesigns, it seems to be more an experiment in finding out how to organise projects when there's so much University work to be done. I'm going to change it again over Christmas and have a go at concentrated coding sessions next term. It worked so well in the 48 hour competition. | ![]()
![]() | I attended the Retro Ball in Kenilworth on the 3rd and 4th December 2005. It was sponsored by Play 4 Charity and was a great chance to play and buy some old games. Blitz sponsored a Retro Remakes competition which a team from VGDS entered, and they won 3rd prize! Congratulations!
The annual DarkBASIC convention was held in Chichester on the 12th/13th November 2005. There were some good talks by Philip, Mike and Lee, especially the showcase of the new physics system they're implementing. People got drunk, we played Unreal Tournament, and there was lots of DarkBASIC code to be showcased and discussed. | ![]()
![]() | Sonata Arctica is the kind of music I'm into at the moment, with their fast metal music and insane guitaring! I went to see them at the Thirteenth Day Metalfest!
Zelian Games is developing Winterheart's Guild; this nice-looking RPG set in a nuclear winter. Factions are fighting for power after the destruction so Winterheart's Guild is formed to keep order. For example there is this plot where the faction of technomancers is trying to get hold of and replicate lost (nuclear) technology to gain total control. There will be around 10 competing factions, and the player is thrown into the middle of it all. The game will have a fantasy feel to it, but rather than magic will have psychic powers caused by radiation. Take a look at the website for more info and screenshots! | ![]()
